Research
Dr. Szilágyi leads and international research group of 15-20 people of PhD, MSc and BSc Hungarian, Brazilian, Ethiopian, Iranian, Kenyan, Tunisian, Vietnamese students, while postdocs, visiting scientists show up often as well. His research areas are materials science, nanotechnology, thermal science, spectroscopy and analytical chemistry with a very strong emphasis on environmental applications. For these he is synthesizing oxide, polymer, carbon and biological nanostructures and their nanocomposites by hydrothermal, electrospinning, sol-gel, sputtering and atomic and molecular layer deposition (ALD, MLD) synthesis methods. Besides academic research, he is doing industrial research work frequently for various companies (e.g. Bosch, Bridgestone, GE, GlaxoSmithKline, Knorr-Bremse, Samsung, Sanofi, Teva, various SMEs, etc.).
